When does the Maintenance Period start?

When construction has been completed to the satisfaction of the Stage 3 Safety Audit and ‘As Built’ surveys and asset records have been handed to the relevant highway authority you will be issued with either a Part 1 (S106/S278) or Part 2 (S38) Completion Certificate. This is the start of the Maintenance Period.

How long is the Maintenance Period?

12 Months.

How long after the completion of the Construction Phase do ‘New Road Layout’ signs have to be removed?

Three Months.

Who is responsible for correcting defects at the end of the maintenance period?

The client is ultimately responsible, but it depends on what was specified in the contract between the client and contractor/principle contractor.
